Purpose:

The Rockies Player ID camp identifies athletes that would like to compete for our Rockies 'A' and 'B' teams, as well as a potential to compete at the A and B-Level tournaments in the 2026 season. The selected athletes will train together throughout the off season alongside SBR coaches and specialized facilitators.

Player age groups for this camp will be as follows:

U13 (birth year 2013 and 2014)

U15 (birth year 2011 and 2012)

U17 (birth year 2009 and 2010)

U19 (birth year 2007 and 2008)

Team Selection

The U13 and U15 ‘A’ and ‘B’ team rosters will be selected at the completion of the ID camp. Each team will select 11-13 players. For U17 and U19, we will be looking at a similar concept for teams but will depend on the number of athletes trying out for those age groups. Teams will train together over the off-season in preparation for the 2026 ball season (i.e. all U13 ‘A’ and ‘B’ players will train together, and coaches will work collaboratively. )

Winter Training Costs

While we are awaiting final amounts for facilities, training opportunities, and other costs, we wanted to provide an estimate of costs for the winter training sessions. We are anticipating a cost of approximately $800 - $1100 per player for the 2026 season. This price estimate includes player registration for the 2026 season, facility rentals, camp apparel, and specialty instructor costs. Both the A and B teams will be playing in Calgary Minor Division 1, which also incurs an extra fee through Calgary Minor. This fee for 2025 was $57.50 per player; however, this fee is subject to being increased on an actual cost and will not be finalized until the 2026 season. Division 1 players will be notified of the fee during the 2026 season.

'A/B' ID CAMP - FAQS

'A' and 'B' ID CAMP

We understand that there are conflicting priorities on our ID camp dates. We will be holding a secondary date of September 9 to run through a shortened version of skill evaluations for athletes that are unable to make the ID camp weekend dates. Please reach out to coordinator@sbrsoftball.com to add your name to the list of athletes. Unfortunately, there will not be any other opportunities to be evaluated after the ID camp and September 9 dates.

We acknowledge that while most players typically develop better within their age-appropriate category, we understand that exceptionally talented players may seek opportunities to compete in the next age category within the association. We will allow for players to play up an age level; however, we ask that you review our playing up policy on our website to understand eligibility, consideration, and procedure.

SBR Rockies will develop a coach selection committee that will review all the applications for coaches. The committee will take into consideration coaching experience, NCCP level and training, and parent/player feedback submissions. The committee members will be comprised of members of SBR Executive Committee members and other SBR Coaches who have a deep understanding of coaching and extensive coaching experience.
